The Battery Genuis
Powerstride’s Proper Care Tip # 6 (Batteries should be watered after charging unless plates are exposed before charging.)
Watering your batteries after a charge makes sure that your battery always has the
necessary amount it needs to keep running without causing internal damage to
your battery. If your battery’s plates are exposed before you begin to charge
you will need to add distilled water to your battery. You will need to bring that
water level to 1/8” above the plates or 1/4” below the bottom of the fill
tube/battery well. Make sure to check your battery after charging as well
because you may lose water

Powerstride’s Proper Care Tip # 5 (Vent caps should be kept in place and tight during vehicle operation and battery charging.)
Keeping those caps from the top of Low Maintenance batteries is not only smart but highly recommended by all manufacturers. A very important
part of your batteries longevity depends on its ability to recover water when
possible. Taking the caps off or loosening them for any reason will allow an
excess amount of water to escape from the battery. It can also cause excess
amounts of gas vapors to build up corrosion on the posts of your batteries.
Spillage is also a major issue when caps a

Powerstride’s Proper Care Tip # 4 (batteries should be kept clean, free of dirt and corrosion at all times.)
Corrosion, the silent battery killer. Keeping your terminals
and batteries clean can do wonders for the longevity of your battery. This bit
of advice is applicable to any battery that is considered a flooded/acid filled
battery; yes that includes maintenance free batteries. A lead acid battery will
naturally gas out from the chemical reaction that occurs when a load is placed
on a battery. Variables such as heat and age can also cause a battery to
excessively expel gas. This gas is at

Powerstride’s Proper Care Tip # 3 (Battery cables should be intact, and the connectors kept tight at all times. Systematic inspection is recommended.)
This is probably one of the most serious and damaging
accidents that can happen to any battery owner. Loose cables that are not properly
installed can and most likely will damage your batteries. Allowing for loose
connections is just asking for a spark/arc to occur which can melt your posts.
Those connections need to be tightened down and checked regularly for loosening
bolts. Shock and vibration can cause your bolts to loosen alone but even
technicians and others that install ba

Powerstride’s Proper Care Tip # 2 (New batteries need to be cycled several times to reach full capacity)
So you
got your new battery and you’re ready to hit the roads and enjoy your toys. STOP!
Think ahead and make sure you have properly formatted your battery before
forcing heavy discharges to your new battery. New batteries come rated at about
85% of capacity when they reach the end user and will take about 50-100 cycles
to reach their peak cycles. A cycle for a battery is a slow discharge in
voltage down and a recharge back to full. Batteries need time to get their “legs”
underneath them
