More Starting Power

OPTIMA® batteries deliver a higher level of power to the starter in the critical first 10 seconds of the vehicle starting cycle. They feature a patented SPIRALCELL Technology allowing for the lowest internal resistance of any battery on the market today. This decreased internal resistance, along with the completely sealed case, is the key to Optima's unparalleled high power delivery, increased cycle life and fast recharge capability for fast recovery in short driving cycles.

The following charging methods are recommended to insure a long battery life: (Always use a voltage regulated charger, with voltage limits set as described below.)

34 & 34R - 34/78 - 6V - 25 & 35 - 75/25
These batteries are designed for engine starting applications. They are NOT recommended or warranted for use in deep cycle applications.

Recommended charging information:

Alternator:
13.3 to 15.0 volts, no amperage limit. 

Battery charger:
13.8 to 15.0 volts, 10 amps maximum, 6-12 hours
approximate. 

Rapid Recharge:
Maximum voltage 15.6 volts (regulated). 
Maximum current: No limit as long as temperature
< 125°F (51.7°C). 
Maximum recharge time: Charge until current
drops below 1 amp.

Float charge:
13.2 to 13.8 volts, 1 amp maximum current, time
indefinite (at lower voltage). 

To charge the OPTIMA® 6V-1050, six volt battery,
divide the charge voltage setting in half.

All limits must be strictly adhered to.

Safety Information:

Always wear safety glasses when working with batteries. 

Always use a voltage regulated battery charger with limits set to the above ratings.

Overcharging can cause the safety valves to open and battery gasses to escape, resulting in premature failure. These gasses are flammable!
You cannot replace water in sealed batteries that have been overcharged. Any battery that becomes very hot or makes a hissing sound while recharging should be disconnected immediately. 

Failure to fully charge a battery can result in poor performance and a reduction in capacity.

OPTIMA's® power is cleaner with higher voltage output than conventional batteries. You can play your system louder and longer. And they have a greater cycle life so they can be drained and recharged more often. Plus, they're spill-proof and can withstand 15 times the
vibration of ordinary batteries.

OPTIMA® YellowTop is made to install and forget. No matter the conditions, be it dampness, heat, dirt or exposure to extremes in vibration or regular discharge, you can count on OPTIMA® to deliver
uninterrupted power. OPTIMA's® ability to hold a higher voltage during the discharge cycle makes it possible to utilize more of the stored power in the OPTIMA® compared to ordinary batteries. The YellowTop handles many discharges as well as re-
charges without losing significant capacity.

OPTIMA® is also ideal for seasonal use because of its very low self-discharge rate. That means you can store your seasonal vehicles all winter without
regular charging and still spring out of the starting block when winter is over.

The following charging methods are recommended to insure a long battery life (Always use a voltage

D51 & D51R - D35 - D75/25 - D34 - D34/78
These batteries are dual purpose. They are designed for engine start and cyclic applications and for use in vehicles with large accessory loads.

Recommended charging information:
Alternator:
13.65 to 15.0 volts, no amperage limit. 

Battery charger:
13.8 to 15.0 volts, 10 amps maximum, 6-12 hours approximate. 

Cyclic Applications:
14.7 volts, no current limit as long as battery temperature
remains below 125°F (51.7°C). When current falls below 1
amp, finish with 2 amp constant current for 1 hour.

Rapid Recharge:
Maximum voltage 15.6 volts (regulated). 
Maximum current: No limit as long as temperature <125°F (51.7°C). 
Maximum recharge time: Charge until current drops below 1 amp. 

Float charge:
13.2 to 13.8 volts, 1 amp maximum current, time indefinite (at lower voltage).

The OPTIMA® BlueTop battery will keep you on the water longer. Its patented SPIRALCELL® Technology means more running time, faster recharge, and up to twice the life of traditional marine and RV batteries.

Vibration Resistant

The OPTIMA® is over 15 times more resistant to vibration than other batteries. The constant vibration and jarring from waves can be deadly for traditional marine batteries. The tightly wound construction in OPTIMA® batteries minimizes plate movement and subsequent damage caused by harsh conditions - extending battery life.

Nonspillable/Maintenance Free

The OPTIMA® is spill-proof and maintenance free. Because of its completely sealed case, OPTIMA® batteries are extremely safe. Acid can't leak or spill, making them clean, user-friendly and environmentally sound. In addition, the maintenance free sealed case design eliminates the need to add water or clean terminals. OPTIMA® Blue Top batteries are spill proof, so they can be mounted anyplace inside a boat or RV, in almost any position.

In the off-season, sometimes marine batteries sit for months at a time and lose their charge. But the OPTIMA® BlueTop battery has such a low rate of self-discharge, that it can go unused for up to one year without recharging, if kept at or below room temperature.
